Welcome to Suburban Images.

Our original site, SuburbanImages.net, emerged in June 2006 to exhibit what we hoped was an honest portrayal of the modern suburb. In late 2008, we acquired SuburbanImages.com and are now refurbishing and expanding the site.

As it develops, we hope to exhibit more fully the many contradictory characteristics of the modern American suburb - the idyllic setting of seemingly safe streets, parks and schools, the home of older suburbanites, the newer home for individuals and families with more diverse backgrounds than ever before, and the backdrop of constant personal and social struggle. As the suburbs have aged, some have flourished, some have declined, and, more and more, the distinctions between "urban" and "suburban" have blurred.

Our desire now is to provide a platform for amateur artists whose perspectives of the American suburb are as diverse as the suburbs themselves. For information on submitting photographs for consideration, please contact us.
